Hi Steve, I've been listening through a bunch of Phil & Friends shows from '99 as of late. I know it's all in the hands, but I am curious as to what your rig was like at the time. Thanks so much!

Good question, I’d have to see some photos to confirm, but it was almost certainly the 50 watt Dumble and maybe the Mesa M180 in stereo on a pair of 2x12’s with the little DeArmond RT5 for slide that would have substituted for the Dumble preamp.
Same output stages.

Modified LXP1 for reverb and probably the RV2 for echo although I don’t remember how much I used that effect for Phil and Friends.
The LXP1 ran with a Dumbleator effects loop type thing. Bill Krinard built it.
Speakers were unidentifiable Celestion samples, Alnico, got ‘em from Boogie.
those were under the Dumble, and either a pair of the early paper cone Tone Tubbies, which were pretty much Vox/Celestion type speakers as well, or maybe Vox Blues.
probably TT. .
Mutron-3 and old Vox Tone Bender, that’s about the extent of my recollection.
I still own all that same stuff, and to your point about “hands”, if I set all that same gear up today and played it, it’d sound completely different.
i don’t sound like me with the same gear, and/or I sound exactly the same with whatever, or not. . Go figure.
